Fun Finds Friday: Lovely and Quilted

I have always had a thing for quilts.  I love the way the pieces all work together to form something bigger and more beautiful than each individual piece, and I love how a single quilt can hold so many memories.  Because I have always been so fascinated by that concept, a small lap quilt was one of the first things I ever tried to sew when I was probably in middle school.  I took some old shirts from all four of my grandparents and from both of  my parents to create that small patchwork quilt.  It may not be perfect, but I wouldn't take a million dollars for it.  It holds immeasurable sentimental value.

Yesterday I showed you some little baby quilts I recently finished for friends.  That quilting inspiration remained with me all week, so I decided to share some fun, quilted finds with you this Friday.  :)  Hope you like them!

1.  Quilted Pillow Sham by quiltsbykandy --  Aren't these lovely?  Simple touches like this add a sweet charm to any room in a home.

2.  Rag Quilt Purse by ChloesSandBox --  Love this simple little purse.  Pretty colors and a unique look.

3.  Queen Size Rag Quilt with Two Shams by SouthernCharmQuilts --  This is a really neat look, and with this particular quilt, you get to pick your own fabric from the seller's fabric selection.  Very cool!

4.  Kumari Holiday Mug Rug by SillyMamaQuilts  --  Okay, who knew there was a such thing as mug rugs?!?  I didn't.  This is too cute!  I may have to start making some as gifts.  (I want this one though!)

5.  Batik Fabrics Quilt Table Runner by SewFunQuilts  --  I love the colors in this table runner!  I feel like it would be perfect for any time of year.

Happy Friday everyone!

Fun Finds Friday: Earthy Tones and Crochet

This week's finds stem from a dress that I ordered last week.  I had been eying this dress for a while, but I wasn't sure if I liked it enough to actually order it.  I thought I'd give it time, think it over, and if I still kept thinking about it, I would know I should just get it.

A few weeks went by, and I was still thinking about it.  Then I got a gift card, and I pretty much felt like it was a sign... so I went ahead and ordered.

I'm so glad I did because I love it!  It's simple and beautiful and feminine.

This dress came from Victoria's Secret.

I can't wait until the hubby comes home so I can wear it for a date night!  :)

Inspired by this dress, I started searching for some accessories that might be pretty with it.  I was looking for natural, Earthy tones and simplicity.  Here's what I found (and what I may order soon!).

1.  Teardrop Earrings from Forever 21  --   I like how these mimic the design on the top of the dress, and the natural looking gold is simplistic enough to keep with the "Earthy" thing.

2.  Tan Clutch from Target  --  I thought this little clutch would hold just enough, and it has just enough interest with the little metallic pieces on the front.

3.  Simple Sandals from Old Navy  --  These cute flat sandals would be perfect for this dress here in Hawaii.  (Heels aren't something you wear all that often here for some reason.)

4.  Bracelets from Forever 21  --   These bangles would be a nice compliment to the whole ensemble, and I want them!  :)

Happy Friday everyone, and hope you have a fantastic weekend!

P.S.  I know I've said it a few times this week, but I'll say it one more time.  If you read regularly, please show me some love (and support) and click "Follow" through Google Friend Connect to the right of this post.  I love knowing who stops in and hearing what you have to say!

Fun Finds Friday: Buttery Yellow

There is no color happier than yellow... It is the color of sunshine!  I have been on a quest for some happiness this week, so I thought I would share some beautiful yellow finds.  I would love having any of these little yellow pieces as accents in my home.  Anyone else love a little pop of yellow here and there?  Or everywhere?

1.  Sunshine Yellow Antique Pottery Wall Pocket by TheOrangeCollective -- This is a really cool piece.  It looks like a pitcher, but it's really only half of one!  It can hang on the wall!  How cool is that?

2.  Yellow and White IKAT Pillow Cover by MiCasaBella -- I love this throw pillow.  It just looks so cheery and happy!

3.  Two Old Fashioned Hand Crocheted Pot Holders by GrandmasSewingRoom -- Are these adorable or what?  The colors are so pretty, and I love the patterns too.  I just want to hang them in my kitchen. :)

4.  Sunflower Distressed Wood Picture Frame by ArtCityFrames --  I can't get enough of this color.  It would be a fantastic little "pop" of color on any wall.

5.  Pineapple Coconut Decorative Shea Butter Soap by SatinandBirch  -- I would love to have soap like this for guests.  Wouldn't they feel super special?  I can just smell the pineapple coconut scent now...

6.  Yellow Linen Tea Towel with Bicycle by sweetnaturedesigns --  This towel is too cute!  I love this organic bicycle design, and I would love to have it in my home.

Hope you guys like this happy buttery yellow as much as I do!  Have a happy Friday and a fantastic weekend!

P.S.  I'm on Twitter now!  (We'll see how long this lasts and if it's just too much technology to keep up with... haha)  If you're interested, you can follow me at Tails2Tell

Fun Finds Friday: Pink and Green

If you don't already know, my favorite color is green.  When it comes to color combinations with green, I pretty much like them all, but one of my very favorites is pink and green.  I love pink and green together so much that they were my wedding colors!

Today, I'm sharing some really beautiful pink and green finds from Etsy.  Hope you like them!

1.  Garden Gate Earrings by tippystockton --  Love these colors together, and the simple charm of these earrings.

2.  Jewel Crochet Bloom Brooch by editionbw -- Wouldn't this be so pretty on a cardigan... love it.

3.  Smidget Keyring Wallet by AnitagailAccessories -- This pattern is so feminine and sophisticated.  I wouldn't mind having it on my keyring.

4.  Hair Clip or Brooch Pin by MGMart --  I love that this could be a hair piece or a brooch.

5.  Sweet Love Soap by lustercanyon -- I can smell and feel this soap just from the photo.  Wish I had some right now!

6.  Savannah Wedding Ring Pillow by TheBloomingSouth -- Oh boy, I wish I had found this gorgeous pillow for my wedding.  If you know someone who is using pink and green, show them this!

7.  Pink Rose Ring by TheElephantGarden --  Sweet and simple... So pretty.

8.  Pink Rose and Chartreuse Green Pearl Necklace  by LILIWCOUTURE --  Very feminine and romantic necklace... lovely.  :)

Happy Friday!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Fun Finds Friday: Pink and Mustard

On Monday I was feeling a little blue, so I went out for a little retail therapy.  (And it helped.)  While I was out, I found this adorable skirt from Old Navy and just had to take it home.  I so loved the colors that I decided to make it the inspiration for my Fun Finds Friday post.  These are things that I've found on Etsy, and they are currently on my wish list.  I think my skirt plus these beautiful handmade and vintage finds would make an adorable outfit, so I decided to share.

1.  My super cute new skirt from Old Navy -- I am loving these colors right now, and it's a great little shape on.

2.  Sunshine Yellow Corsage Sash by pinktea6 --  Umm... I want this sash!  It would be so adorable with this skirt and a simple soft pink or white tank!

3.  Sweet Kate Vintage Collage Bracelet by lonkoosh -- Is this pretty or what?  The colors would go so well with my skirt, and keep that feminine, vintage look that I love so much.

4.  Dreamy Pink Organza Flower Hair Clips by Miss Glory --  Don't you just love these?  I'm obsessed with little clips like these right now.  Very feminine ones like these... not the huge silk flowers you see sometimes.  I think they are the perfect accessory here in Hawaii when you have curly or wavy hair like me.  Just let your hair air dry when you can, pull it up in a messy side-swept bun, and add one of these adorable little suckers to look like you actually spent time on your hair.  Very pretty and very cute.

5.  Spring Time Earrings by nanofactory --  I love earrings!  I love having earrings for every outfit, and these would be perfect with my skirt ensemble.  So beautiful!

6.  Mustard Yellow Clutch by jandem -- Love this clutch.  So pretty...  It would be perfect with this skirt or with jeans and a cardigan.

Hope you liked today's finds.  Have a fantastic weekend!

Oh, and I am super close to being finished with the soft pastel portrait from the giveaway last week.  I can't wait to show you guys when I finish!

Fun Finds Friday: Pretty as a Princess

Since you learned yesterday that I've been really looking forward to the Royal Wedding (because it's a historic event, of course...), I thought I would show you some finds that I felt would surely make anyone feel just like a princess.  (Because let's face it, pretty much all of us girls have at least thought about what it would be like to have a prince come and sweep us away to a castle to be a princess... and that lucky lady Kate Middleton is living our dream right now!)  So... instead of the crown jewels, I'll show you some "gems" I found on Etsy that any of us commoners could enjoy.  :)

1.  Vintage Pink Clutch by DeborahsForgetMeNots -- If I were a princess, I would want a beautiful pink clutch like this with the pretty and sophisticated lace embellishments.

2.  Antique Style Rhinestone Brooch by BeBrooched -- Wouldn't this look beautiful on a nicely tailored colorful suit jacket?

3.  Vintage Pink Pillbox Hat by Takity -- Ooohhh this hat makes me smile!  I wish it was still in style to wear hats like this everyday.  If I were a princess like Kate, I would have a collection of hats just like this!

4.  Rhinestone Hair Comb by IreneJewelry -- I would think a princess could wear jewels in her hair any day she wanted, and I would take full advantage of it.  I'd wear things just like this!

5.  Pink Rhinestone Ring by BevsVintageBoutique --  I'd also wear gorgeous rings 24/7 if I were a princess.  Luckily for us commoners, Etsy has gorgeous non-royal jewelry for us to have and enjoy. :)

6.  Tea Party Fine Art Print by ciaobellaphotography -- I don't know about you, but I've always thought about tea time when I thought about princesses.  This gorgeous print could help remind us that we all have a little princess in us, and we could all enjoy a tea time every now and then.

7.  Vintage Gloves by TheSparklingCocktail --  What princess wouldn't wear gloves with a beautiful hat?  I know I sure would!

8.  Cinderella Crystal Slipper Shoes by euphoriabridal -- Ummm... I am pretty sure I would demand some Cinderella shoes if I were a princess.  My life just wouldn't be complete without them.  (Since I'm not though, I wish one of my engaged friends would wear some like these in their wedding... Talk about feeling "princess-y.")

I hope you guys enjoyed my finds fit for a princess!  Anything you would love to have?  Anything items I should have added?  Let me know!

13.  Infinity Scarf in Peacock by DianasTreasures --  This is such a beautiful color for a scarf.  Don't you want to add it to your wardrobe?

14.  Lime Green Feather and Rhinestone Hair Comb by foryoubymenet --  I'm loving hair clips now, and this little comb would be such an interesting addition in a messy side swept bun.

15.  Perfectly Peacock Bridal Clutch by bellefiore2009 --  Okay, so this is the second bridal bouquet I picked... but it's soooo pretty!  I would love seeing it in a beautiful wedding with rich colored bridesmaid's dresses.

16.  Two Sachets by VaVaRa --  Wouldn't it be nice to find these inside your drawer making all your things smell so lovely?

What do you think?  Anything you love or could see yourself with?

Cool Coasters and a Budget Friendly Holder

I told you guys last week about my end table makeover, and then I showed you some photos of them back in action in my living room.  In that post I shared a cool Etsy shop called MonikaDesign, where I ordered some coasters to protect my awesome newly made over tables.

Well, they're here!

They came packaged in the most adorable way.

They actually came in a few days ago, but I'm just now getting this post together.  :)  I'm very pleased with them, and I think they will look super cute on my end tables.

What do you think?

Since I had these adorable little coasters now, I needed a "holder" for them.  I thought about several options for making one, but I wanted it super simple and low-key.  With a couple of vague ideas in mind, I went down the street to the craft store nearby.

I just happened to find the perfect thing!  They had these little round, clear, plastic containers that happened to be the perfect size.  (Plus they were only $1... It doesn't get much better than that.)    I bought one of the containers and a piece of brown felt.

I cut the felt to be the perfect size for the bottom of the container, and then again for the bottom of the inside.

Then I glued the felt to the container with Tacky Glue and let it dry.

Voila!  My perfect little coaster holder! (Not too shabby for about $1.50)

Hope everyone is having a great week!  I know I've been trying to soak up every minute before Kent leaves for a while.  : (  We've been having a blast the past couple of weeks though-- working on different projects, riding our cruisers in the evenings, working out, dinner dates, movies, days at the beach, and lots of other little adventures.   I just try to appreciate it all!

P.S.  Don't forget about the giveaway coming next week!  Check back in the next few days for instructions on how to enter! :)

Matching Tables in Action

I finally got the tables stained and coated with polyurethane.  Now they are happily back in their places in my living room, and I love them!  I only wish I had done this project sooner.

After they were stained, I had to wait 8 hours before putting on the polyurethane to protect them, so I waited patiently and got to work on them as soon as I could.

This was when they were just stained.

When it was time, I got out a nice brush and coated them with the polyurethane.
I did three coats, waiting about 3 hours between each one.

Here they are with the polyurethane, all dried and in action in my living room!
Not too shabby for a $15 makeover investment.

And I've told you before that Murphy automatically goes into model mode when the camera comes out...

It was rainy day nap time for Kent and Duke, and they weren't moving from their napping spot so that I could take a nice neat photo, but I think they add a little interest...

And just because I love seeing before and after shots so much, here you go...

I love them so much now that I really want to protect them.  Since Kent is pretty rough on the one beside his recliner, I thought some cool coasters would be a really great idea.

I searched around on Etsy (because I always like to support other artists when possible), and I found some really neat ones.

I really loved these!

Aren't they awesome?

I don't have a fruit or flower thing going on in my living room, but I really loved the look of these unique coasters , so I sent a message asking about a custom order through a link in her shop, (Be sure to check it out!)  She said she would, so I ordered simple aqua and apple green circles.  I can't wait to get them, and I'll be sure to share pictures when I do!
